Topic 2 - Career

For your second post (Topic 2), please share about your career.  If you have never worked or have not yet achieved your dream job, write about the job you would like to have and why you are interested in it.  If you have worked before, write about your most interesting job.  Who or what influenced you to take this job?  What were your responsibilities?  What did you learn from it?  How did you grow as a person as a result of having had this job?  Why was this job interesting or why did you did you enjoy it?  What were some aspects of your work that you did not like?

Although I've had a few office jobs, my primary career has been in teaching ESL.  As I mentioned in my first post, I really enjoy teaching ESL because I can meet people from all over the world.  It is so fascinating to me to learn about different people, languages, and cultures.  Currently in our summer class, we have students from China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Egypt, Guatemala, and El Salvador.  That is amazing!  The whole world comes to my classroom!!!  The only aspects I don't like about teaching are having to correct homework and having to prevent cheating, and arguing with students about grades.
